This is a fantastic opportunity to join the Procurement team at a significant time of change in public sector procurement, working collaboratively with a supportive and dedicated team to deliver a first-class customer service to the University.
This role will support the senior procurement team and will play a pivotal role in maintaining and developing the University's Procurement function to ensure operational, strategic, and statutory requirements are efficiently met and reported. You will be expected to lead on obtaining quotations and tenders and working with various departments in the University to establish requirements and find cost effective solutions. You will also be expected to schedule tender responses and deal with clarifications and the setting up of meetings, supplier visit days and manage the diaries of those who will be involved. You will be responsible for proactively identifying opportunities for savings and improvements in processes. You will be responsible for providing advice on contracts, Terms and Conditions of Contract, identify available routes for purchase and be prepared to explain to users how the procurement rules apply for the University and also in relation to public sector rules.
This is a varied role, so flexibility, high levels of enthusiasm and professional approach will be a key requirement along with strong relationship building and people skills. This role will suit an individual who has strong communication skills, and excellent attention to detail. The ability to handle confidential information in accordance with GDPR and Data protection legislation is key, as is the understanding of Public Procurement Regulations and University Financial Regulations.
