Job overview
A permanent vacancy has arisen for a Clinical Nurse Specialist to support patients living with Parkinson's Disease for 28 hours per week. The role is predominantly based at Furness General Hospital, but requires travel across Morecambe Bay. Support will be provided through a structured induction and full support to meet role requirements.
Main duties
The successful candidate will:
* Support patients with Parkinson's Disease diagnosis in clinic, acute wards and patients' homes; ensure care is delivered in partnership with the multidisciplinary team.
* Assess, plan, implement and evaluate individualized programmes of evidence-based care for patients, carers, relatives and the multidisciplinary team.
* Provide specialist clinical advice to patients, carers, and the multidisciplinary team.
* Collaboratively improve services and quality of care across the health economy.
* Lead development of clinical services in line with national and local guidance, including NICE.
* Run a nurse-led clinic for Parkinson's Disease patients.
* Act as an expert in nursing practice and take a lead role in advancing nursing practice development.
Person specification / Qualifications
* Experience and insight into Parkinson's Disease.
* Registered Nurse (UK NMC) at level 1.
* Evidence of management and leadership experience.
* Current knowledge of caring for patients with Parkinson’s Disease.
* Evidence of clinical competence and credibility in the speciality.
* Experience of mentoring, assessing, teaching and developing staff.
* Leadership experience.
* Non-Medical Prescriber qualification.
* Experience of professional self-management.
