Due to business growth, our busy HGV repair & maintenance unit in Andover requires an additional, experienced HGV Technician to join the team on a permanent, full time basis.The role plays a crucial part in our HGV operations and this person needs to bring quality workmanship and a productive attitude, that will contribute to the delivery of work to our valued commercial clients.
We are recruiting for an experienced HGV Technician to join our busy operations, based out of our HQ in Andover.
The role plays a crucial part in our HGV operations, contributing to both the quality and timeliness of our service delivery to customers.
This is a permanent, full-time position, working alongside an experienced team of talented technicians in a highly productive environment, where we work with National Brands, keeping their vehicles on the road.
You must demonstrate high levels of workmanship, and the experience required to maintain, service, inspect and repair a variety of HGV vehicles.
Requirements:
* Vehicle inspections and diagnostics
* Conduct regular inspections and diagnostic tests on heavy goods vehicles to ensure they are operating correctly.
* Identify faults and issues in engines, transmission, electrical systems, and other components of the vehicle
* Proactively inspect and service vehicles to prevent future mechanical issues
Maintenance and Repairs
* Carry out routine maintenance, including oil changes, tire replacements, brake repairs, and other essential vehicle servicing.
* Perform repairs on engines, fuel systems, exhaust systems, steering, suspension, and other mechanical components.
* Repair or replace worn-out or faulty parts, ensuring that the vehicle operates in a safe and reliable manner.
* Troubleshoot and repair electrical issues such as wiring, lights, and battery problems.
* Use diagnostic tools to resolve electrical faults, ensuring proper functioning of the vehicle’s systems.
Compliance and Safety
* Ensure that all repairs and maintenance work comply with the legal safety standards and regulations.
* Maintain accurate records of inspections, maintenance, and repairs performed on each vehicle.
* Ensure vehicles meet roadworthiness standards and pass MOT tests when required
* Maintain a clean, organized workspace and ensure tools are regularly checked and properly maintained.
Customer Service and Communication
* Communicate effectively with clients, reporting on vehicle status and providing advice on necessary repairs or maintenance. Provide estimates for repair work and timeframes for completion.
Qualifications
* Prior experience in HGV maintenance and repair is essential (3 years or more).
* Certification: NVQ Level 3 in Vehicle Maintenance or equivalent qualifications.
* Licenses: A full, clean driving license (ideally with Class 1 or2).
