Job Description:
Responsible for supervising and managing the operation of the installation’s marine systems and associated equipment in accordance with design, UKCS legislation, classification society rules, and flag state legislation.
Key Responsibilities
* Responsible for the safe and cost-effective operation and maintenance of the installation’s marine systems with minimal environmental impact.
* Ensure thorough knowledge of the operating safety case and performance standards, ensuring that asset integrity is maintained.
* Act as the Responsible Person/Area Authority for all operations in the Marine Department requiring a work permit, ensuring safety precautions are followed.
* Identify risks in marine systems and establish procedures to mitigate them.
* Ensure all personnel understand safety requirements, including work permit systems, operational and emergency procedures, and company policies.
* Coordinate with the HSE Advisor on HSEQ matters.
* Guide staff on safe working practices in line with the Safety Management Systems (SMS).
* Keep accurate records, manuals, and drawings up to date, highlighting updates for processing.
* Review compliance with SMS and update documentation accordingly.
* Ensure compliance with performance standards.
* Operate the installation according to marine procedures.
* Collaborate with Production and Maintenance Supervisors for safe operations and environmental compliance.
* Manage safe isolation and re-energization of process plant following maintenance, per SIRP manual.
* Guide staff on safe marine operations.
* Coordinate with Maintenance Supervisor on planned maintenance tasks and report non-compliances.
* Complete marine logs, vessel movements, weather reports, and tank contents accurately.
* Work with onshore logistics on vessel routing and requirements.
* Communicate with the Deck Foreman regarding vessel, helicopter, and tanker operations.
* Plan fuel loading according to procedures.
* Maintain tank inspection plans aligned with RBI class and verification requirements.
* Operate and maintain mooring and offtake systems.
* Ensure Marine Control Room Operators’ load plans comply with stability manuals.
* Supervise Marine Control Room Operators and ensure systems operate within design parameters.
* Maintain records of crane and helicopter activities, including refueling.
* Perform other tasks as required.
People/Department Management Responsibilities:
Oversee department operations, provide guidance, and supervise staff.
* Conduct regular personnel appraisals and identify training needs.
* Manage conduct and behavior.
* Ensure attendance at safety and operational meetings.
* Allocate workloads and monitor progress.
* Manage onboard resources to promote efficiency and flexibility.
