Opportunity Overview
A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced and dedicated Registered Manager or Care Manager to take the lead at a busy domiciliary care branch based in Wirral. This is a key leadership role that would suit someone confident in managing service compliance, stabilising staff teams, and driving forward operational improvements.
Following recent leadership changes within the branch, this is a pivotal moment to bring in someone with the right vision and stability to lead the team into its next phase. The service currently provides around 1,500 hours of care each week, working exclusively with local authority-commissioned clients.
The Role
The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the full operations of the branch, ensuring high-quality care delivery, regulatory compliance, and a positive working environment for care and office-based staff. You will be working closely with the wider senior management team and have access to centralised support functions across HR, Quality, IT and more.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide leadership and day-to-day management of the Wirral domiciliary care service
* Ensure compliance with CQC standards and all relevant care legislation
* Manage and support a local team including 1 Care Coordinator, 3 Field Care Supervisors, and around 50–60 care staff
* Maintain a safe, person-centred, and effective service for vulnerable adults in the community
* Drive quality assurance, oversee audits, and support continuous service improvement
* Work collaboratively with commissioning bodies, social care teams, and local stakeholders
* Support recruitment, staff development, and retention with help from central teams
* Take ownership of rotas, staffing levels, and performance metrics
* Act as the Registered Manager and point of contact for the CQC
* Identify opportunities for operational growth and contribute to future service planning
About You
Essential:
* Previous experience as a Registered Manager (or senior deputy) in a domiciliary care setting
* Experience managing services delivering 1,000+ care hours weekly
* Sound understanding of CQC regulations, safeguarding, and service compliance
* Proven ability to lead, motivate, and develop care teams
* Comfortable working with local authority frameworks and community-based contracts
Desirable:
* Familiarity with the Wirral region and its commissioning landscape
* Experience with NHS discharge pathways, CHC-funded care, or block contracts
* Commercial acumen and a track record of service development
* Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health & Social Care (or working towards)
* Eligibility to be registered with CQC as the Nominated Individual
