Title: CNC Machinist (3&5 Axis)

Salary: Up to £18 p/h DOE

Hours: Monday to Thursday 07:30 – 16:30, Friday 07:30 – 12:30 (39 hours per week)
Overtime: Available, typically 8 hours per week paid at 1.5x
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced CNC Machinist to join the milling section of a well established precision engineering manufacturing team. This is a day shift position offering stable hours, regular overtime opportunities, and the chance to work on high specification multi axis machining centres. The successful candidate will be a proactive and productive member of the manufacturing team, contributing to quality, efficiency and continuous improvement across the shop floor.
Key Responsibilities
• Working safely in line with company Health and Safety procedures
• Setting and operating CNC milling machines
• Programming CNC machines for new and existing parts
• Programming using Heidenhain, Mazatrol or Siemens controls
• Using CADCAM software to support programming activities
• Working closely with the engineering team to optimise tooling strategies and machining methods
• Carrying out in process inspection in line with the company QMS
• Achieving estimated production cycle times and identifying improvement opportunities
• Reporting any production issues or delays to the Production Manager
• Maintaining a clean, organised work area
• Returning tooling and materials to the correct storage locations

• Mazak Variaxis
• Mazak VTC800
• Mazak CV5
• Mazak VCN530
• DMG DMU50
• Quaser MV400
• Matsuura MAM72
Candidate Requirements
• Experience setting and operating 3 and 5 axis CNC milling machines
• Ability to programme at the machine
• Experience with Heidenhain, Mazatrol or Siemens controls preferred
• CADCAM experience desirable
• Strong understanding of precision engineering and quality standards
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
