Job Overview This is a rare opportunity to join the Medical Equipment Library in a Job Share, Medical Equipment Library Manager (MEL), Band 5 position. Total hours available 18:75. In partnership, the MEL Managers, will have line management for a team of 9 staff. They must ensure the MEL service operates efficiently whilst seeking any opportunities to expand and further support the clinical teams. The successful applicant will be dynamic and self motivated, with excellent knowledge of MS Office applications, especially Excel. They will also have a good understanding of contract management as the position involves management for a number of maintenance and service contracts relating to medical devices. The applicant will have excellent communication and team working attributes as the role involves liaising with a range of contacts both internal and external to the Trust. Main duties of the job Leadership of the Medical Equipment Library (M.E.L.) To contribute towards the continual development of the M.E.L. service within the boundaries of the department's responsibilities Line management of the M.E.L. staff Negotiating contracts for maintenance of M.E.L. equipment as required Monitoring compliance of contractors against contract requirements, initiating action if required Liaising with all suppliers relating to the work of the M.E.L. to ensure a high-quality service Ensuring that the M.E.L. equipment is maintained and is available in sufficient quantities Ensuring compliance of the M.E.L. with all procedures, including areas such as quality and decontamination Ensuring accurate and timely recording of M.E.L. activity data Providing advice to users on management of their ward equipment within the scope of M.E.L. responsibilities Working for our organisation At the RUH we put people at the heart of what we do, working together as one team to make a difference for our patients, each other, and our community.
