Overview
We are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic, highly motivated individual to lead our Nuclear Medicine Physics Team, and the clinical services of Nuclear Medicine and PET/CT. Our physics team works across the Nuclear Medicine and Diagnostic Radiology sections of the RUH Imaging Physics Group. The Imaging Physics Group is a friendly, collaborative team of clinical scientists, clinical technologists, and administrators, committed to supporting scientist and technologist trainees via the NHS STP scheme and a level 6 technologist apprenticeship program. There is active involvement in clinical trials and various research projects both internally and with external partners. This is an exciting time to join the department with expanding services and a new Dyson cancer centre. The RUH has two gamma cameras (including a Veriton 360° CZT system) and a fixed site PET scanner. We perform a wide range of procedures including extensive use of SPECT-CT, non-imaging tests and some therapies.
You will provide scientific leadership and direction to the Nuclear Medicine Physics Group, and managerial and scientific support for the clinical services of Nuclear Medicine and PET/CT. You will be an effective communicator and an inspiring leader, able to develop the teams and the services. The Head of Nuclear Medicine chairs the Nuclear Medicine Governance Committee, working closely with our Nuclear Medicine Radiologists and Technologists to ensure high standards and continuing improvement and development of new techniques.
Responsibilities
 * Provide scientific leadership and direction to the Nuclear Medicine Physics Group, and managerial and scientific support for the clinical services of Nuclear Medicine and PET/CT.
 * Be an effective communicator and an inspiring leader, able to develop the teams and the services.
 * Work with the Nuclear Medicine Governance Committee, Radiologists and Technologists to ensure high standards and ongoing development of new techniques.
 * Provide advice at the highest level within the trust on the management of radiation protection, acting in an expert advisory capacity as Medical Physics Expert for Nuclear Medicine and PET/CT.
 * Collaborate with Radiation Protection Advisers and Radioactive Waste Advisers in the Trust.
 * Ensure that appropriate training in the use of radioactive substances is provided to staff in line with current best practice and policy.
Qualifications / Requirements
 * Detailed scientific knowledge and technical expertise in the use of radioactive substances and their application to healthcare.
