Project Overview
This role supports the delivery of a major HVDC interconnector project linking Scotland and England. The project includes converter stations, 400kV substations, and onshore cable routes, forming part of the UK’s strategic energy infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
* Support the design, installation, and commissioning of HV electrical systems.
* Review technical drawings, cable schedules, and protection schemes.
* Liaise with OEMs, subcontractors, and client engineers.
* Ensure compliance with National Grid specifications and IEC standards.
* Assist with FAT/SAT testing and energization procedures.
* Provide technical input during construction and commissioning phases.
Requirements
* Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
* Experience with HV substations, HVDC systems, or grid connections.
* Familiarity with National Grid standards and specifications.
* Strong understanding of protection, control, and SCADA systems.
* Ability to work across design, construction, and commissioning phases.
Desirable Certifications
* TP141 (Substation Access)
* BESC / Persons
* NGESO TP106 (Design Assurance)
* Experience with GIS, HVDC valves, or converter station equipment
