Housing Support Worker – Bristol
Job type: Full Time, permanent
Hours: Working hours are 8 hours per day, shift patterns and flexibility will be discussed during the interview. The provision of the contract is between 08:00 and 22:00.
Location: Bristol
An enhanced DBS check will be required for this role.
Candidates are required to have a full driving licence and access to a vehicle for the purposes of undertaking the requirements of this role.
Nacro is a national Social Justice Charity with more than 50 years' experience of changing lives, building stronger communities, and working with stakeholders towards reducing crime.
Nacro delivers the Community Accommodation Support service (CAS), a national service across England and Wales. The service supports adult defendants who could not otherwise be bailed by providing accommodation in the community, and supports adults released from custody in the last three months of their sentence on Home Detention Curfew (HDC) and other Licence Orders.
The team provides flexible and holistic support to residents with a wide range of needs, aiming to help them find and maintain stable housing. You will manage a caseload of residents and properties in your area.
Duties and responsibilities include:
* Supporting clients to comply with HDC/Bail conditions.
* Producing support plans that include accessing housing and support for move-on to longer-term accommodation.
* Ensuring all support plans and risk assessments are person-centred and inclusive.
* Providing weekly support to residents to engage with their plans and achieve their goals.
* Supporting residents to access Housing Benefit to prevent rent arrears.
* Managing properties to ensure they meet Decent Homes Standard, including reporting repairs and replacing furniture and equipment.
* Undertaking basic cleaning tasks as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
* Planning and delivering effective, person-centred support and safety plans.
* Providing weekly support sessions (up to 2 hours) to help residents achieve their goals.
* Maintaining up-to-date resident records.
* Supporting Housing Benefit applications.
* Referring residents to specialist support agencies.
* Liaising with partner agencies such as Probation, Prison Services, Courts, and Police.
* Ensuring properties are well-maintained, furnished, and clean.
* Empowering residents to identify and achieve outcomes.
* Developing move-on plans with residents early on, exploring realistic housing options.

* Ability to develop person-centred support and move-on plans.
* Understanding of safeguarding procedures.
* Experience working with vulnerable adults with complex needs (substance misuse, health issues, mental health, employment, housing).
* Flexibility to travel within your area and cover other patches as needed.
* Familiarity with computer-based packages.
