Description
The Data Product Owner is responsible for defining, prioritising, and delivering data and AI-driven products that drive operational and commercial value. Working closely with the other Product Owners, they act as the bridge between business stakeholders and data/technology teams, ensuring that data, analytics, and AI initiatives are aligned to business priorities and deliver measurable outcomes. The role plays a key part in enabling the organisation to leverage data and artificial intelligence to improve decision-making, operational efficiency, and future capability.
Key Responsibilities
* Own data and AI product roadmap and strategy
* Translate business needs into a prioritised backlog
* Respond to shifting business priorities
* Manage stakeholder engagement across business and IT
* Lead Agile delivery and sprint prioritisation
* Own full lifecycle from discovery to adoption
* Ensure data quality, governance, and compliance
* Drive adoption and business change
* Track performance and value realisation
* Data Quality & Governance: Ensure data reliability, security, compliance, and usability, acting as the guardian of data trust
Accountability
Accountable for delivery, adoption, and value realisation of data and AI products across the organisation.
Experience and Qualifications
* Experience as Product Owner or Business Analyst
* Strong understanding of data platforms, analytics, and emerging AI use cases
* Excellent stakeholder management and prioritisation skills
* Agile delivery experience
* Knowledge of data governance and security standards desirable
* Use of Jira for requirement documentation
* Strategic Thinking: Ability to align data products with overall business goals
* Product Mindset: Focusing on outcomes (e.g., better decisions) rather than just outputs (e.g., more reports)
