Behaviour Mentor / SEND & SEMH Intervention – Secondary Schools, Bristol
Start Date: Immediate / ASAP
Roles Available: Flexible Supply | Long-Term | Permanent

Are you passionate about supporting vulnerable or at-risk young people to overcome barriers and achieve their potential?

We’re working with secondary schools across Bristol seeking experienced Behaviour Mentors and Intervention Specialists with a background in SEND, SEMH, youth mentoring, or sports/music coaching. Whether you’re looking for flexible supply, a long-term placement, or a permanent role, we can connect you with schools where your skills have a real impact.

This role is ideal for professionals who can build trusting relationships, support positive behaviour, and deliver engaging interventions for students facing additional challenges.

Key Responsibilities

* Support vulnerable or at-risk students, including those with SEMH or SEND needs

* Deliver one-to-one and small group interventions, including mentoring, sports coaching (football, basketball, boxing), music activities, or other structured sessions

* Collaborate with teachers and pastoral teams using team teaching approaches where appropriate

* Promote positive behaviour, build resilience, and support emotional wellbeing

* Implement trauma-informed practice strategies and contribute to individual student plans

* Monitor and report on student progress and intervention outcomes

Essential Skills & Experience

* Experience supporting young people in youth work, mentoring, sports coaching, behaviour support, or similar

* Ability to build strong, trusting relationships with children

* Calm, proactive, and adaptable working style

* Strong communication and interpersonal skills

* Positive and supportive approach to behaviour management

* Enhanced DBS (or willingness to apply—support provided)

Desirable Skills & Experience

* Experience within a school or SEND environment

* Knowledge of Autism, SEMH, or trauma-informed approaches

* Experience running structured activities, coaching, or facilitating sessions

* A driver with access to a car (preferred but not essential)

* Additional safeguarding or first aid training

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
