Post Title: Competitions Officer Contract Type: Permanent Workplace: EFL House, Preston Reporting to: Senior Competitions Manager Working Pattern: M-F, 35 hours “The EFL is about two things – great football competitions and supporting communities 365 days a year”. The EFL is looking for an organised Competitions Officer to work within our Football Operations Team. The role will sit directly in the EFL fixtures and competitions department, administrating and organising EFL related competitions, such as CEFA. JOB PURPOSE The Competitions Officer will organise and co-ordinate the day-to-day management of the CEFA Competitions and provide support to the Senior Competitions Manager and Head of Football Competitions with First Team competitions and operations. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES ADMINISTRATION & OVERSIGHT Oversee the day-to-day management of EFL Community and Education Football Alliance including preparation of fixtures, re-arrangements, postponements and implementation of competition rules Oversee the management and inputting of relevant data of the Full Time System and provide guidance and support to the CEFA support staff Day-to-day management of Central Development League Responsibility for affiliation of all EFL competitions with The FA STRATEGY AND COMMUNICATION Liaison and strategic planning with the Communications Department and EFL in the Community regarding promotional activities relating to CEFA Organisation of the CEFA End of Season Awards and event(s) Production of the Central League Newsletter FURTHER SUPPORT Provide support to the Senior Competitions Manager and Head of Football Competitions with the collation and assessment of Referee marks and Club feedback and any associated matters to include Key Match Incident Panel meetings Assist the Head of Football Competitions and the Senior Competitions Manager with production of EFL fixture lists and dissemination of information Assist with EFL Cup and Trophy draws Assist and attend end of season presentations and EFL Events as required Gain and maintain a working knowledge of the Football Operations department to assist the Events and Club Relationships teams as and when required WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR KNOWLEDGE & UNDERSTANDING Competent administrator – able to administrate several competitions effectively Understanding of the EFL, football competitions and how fixtures work Ideally a knowledge of competition organisation within a sports environment An understanding that this role may include working in an evening and weekend at some points in time Ideally an understanding of the EFL, its 72 member clubs and the wider Football family TECHNICAL SKILLS A track record for meeting and exceeding goals within strict timeframes in a pressurised environment Advanced knowledge and experience of using Microsoft Office packages especially Microsoft Excel Excellent organisational skills with acute attention to detail Exceptional written and verbal communication skills Ideally previous or current time working at a professional football Club or operational knowledge of development phase football at professional level ATTRIBUTES The ability to create, manage and maintain relationships with key internal and external stakeholders A track record for meeting and exceeding goals within strict timeframes in a pressurised environment Personable and professional approach Proactive approach to day-to-day issues High level of self-motivation Able to manage sensitive information Lead by example by contributing to promoting the principles of the EFL: Everybody Working Together - We are one team supporting each other and collaborating on our shared goals Fairness & Equality - Being consistent and inclusive for everyone - showing respect Listening & Learning - Communicating with trust and honesty - growing as individuals and enabling others to do so too INTRODUCTION TO THE EFL The English Football League (EFL) is the highest attended football league, and largest single body of professional clubs in Europe.
