The post holder will play a central role in the delivery of the trust's quality, governance and continuous improvement programmes. This role requires individuals who are driven, ambitious and passionate about the provision of high quality, safe and effective care with a desire to influence and work in partnership with clinical and managerial staff.
The post holder has a fundamental role within an associated directorate, acting as the main relationship and communication link between services and trust Board. They will provide assurance to the trust Board for their allocated directorate(s) by leading on the delivery of and implementation of the directorates Improving Lives Programme.
The post holder will triangulate and monitor both internal and external intelligence information, including analysing complex data across patient safety, clinical effectiveness, patient experience, and workforce culture ensuring shared learning is embedded and that improvements made are sustainable.
This is a senior leadership role, suited to someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, can work collaboratively with clinical teams, and is confident presenting highly complex or sensitive information to senior stakeholders.
Main duties of the job
* Lead the delivery and implementation of the Improving Lives annual programme for your directorate(s).
* Provide assurance to the Trust Board by analysing complex performance, compliance, and quality data.
* Facilitate pre-CQC assurance reviews and support directorates with inspection preparedness.
* Oversee CQC Must & Should Do actions and monitor directorate compliance with Quality Statements.
* Champion quality improvement and support operational teams to identify, plan, and evaluate improvement initiatives.
* Analyse incident, complaint, audit, and patient experience trends, ensuring that learning is shared and improvements sustained.
* Lead the use of quality control dashboards and performance monitoring within your directorate(s).
* Build strong relationships across directorates, fostering a culture of safety, learning, and continuous improvement.
* Represent the Quality Management Team at Performance & Quality Assurance Meetings (PQAM).
* Provide expert advice on quality governance, assurance processes, and Quality Impact Assessments (QIAs).
* Contribute to Trust-wide strategic development of quality, governance, and service improvement.

Job responsibilities
* Provide expert guidance and leadership to directorate(s) teams to ensure robust systems are in place, that directorate(s) are meeting statutory requirements and clinical governance objectives.
* The post holder will have the skills and ability to manage the quality systems with the objective of ensuring the continual improvement of service effectiveness are embedded.
* Operate as a point of contact for internal specialist advice and liaison directorate on subjects such as the Care Quality Commission, for matters in relation to clinical effectiveness & assurance.
* To deputise for the Head of Quality Management as and when required.
* Line management of junior members of staff.
* As a senior member of the Trust, the post holder will support the embedding of Trust culture and values into all services.
* Communicate effectively with customers, colleagues, staff, and approved agencies ensuring appropriate lines of communication.
* Present highly complex, sensitive, or contentious information to groups.
* Present workshops to large groups of staff.
* To ensure that confidentially is always maintained.
* Motivational/coaching skills to encourage collaborative working to improve services/performance where there may be resistance to change
* The post holder will be the point of contact and offer expert advice for staff, on any matters relating to quality and governance.
* To develop and foster positive working relationships internally and using communication skills to influence, collaborate and deliver.
Qualifications
Essential
* Educated to Masters level or equivalent experience
* Clinical Governance, Audit or Quality knowledge acquired through training and experience

* Quality Improvement qualification

* Understanding of CQC standards and requirements
* Experience of producing quality, governance or performance reports including analysis of data

* Experience of managing change/ improving processes and systems, including formulating change plans

* Evidence of experience of delivering training to groups
