We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Newport to assist with the appointment of a Street Cleansing Operative, on a 3-month contract, highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.
Rate of Pay: £12.85 - £16.32 per hour
Summary:
To carry out contractual street cleansing and refuse collection duties, ensuring a clean, safe, and sustainable environment for residents, businesses, and visitors to Newport.
Responsibilities:
* Complete daily cleansing tasks according to contract specifications and route schedules.
* Maintain high standards of cleanliness across assigned areas, including litter picking and removal of waste.
* Comply with all Health & Safety regulations, wearing council-issued protective clothing and footwear.
* Report any incidents, accidents, hazards, or equipment faults promptly.
* Assist with the safe collection and disposal of waste and recyclables from designated areas.
Knowledge and Experience:
* Good knowledge of the Newport City area.
* Experience working in refuse, cleansing, or similar services.
Skills and Attributes:
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Good customer care skills.
* Able to work to targets and deadlines.
* Self-motivated with a positive attitude and willingness to learn new skills.
* Stamina to undertake walking, bending, lifting, and carrying duties in all weather conditions.
Other Requirements:
* Able to work a rostered shift pattern, including weekends and bank holidays.
* A full UK driving licence is desirable
