Job Title: Lead Mechanical Design Engineer
Location: Rochester – On-site (work from home ½ day Friday)
Role Type: Permanent
Our client, an established aerospace & defence manufacturing firm in Rochester, requires an experienced Lead Mechanical Design Engineer to join their multidisciplinary team.
Responsibilities include:
* Preparing and presenting Mechanical Development Plans, Design Scheme Data Packs, and engineering details for review and customer forums.
* Peer reviewing work of other mechanical engineers, including designs, data, calculations, and reports.
* Chairing design review panels at various levels, both internal and customer-facing.
* Preparing project plans, leading teams, and monitoring progress and budgets.
* Managing resource plans and allocations for Mechanical Engineering tasks.
* Supporting bids and proposals with estimates and documentation.
* Conducting performance and development reviews, and contributing to salary reviews.
* Ensuring adherence to departmental and company policies within the Mechanical Team and project teams.
Required experience:
* Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field, or equivalent experience.
* Proven product development experience from concept to production.
* Leadership and project management experience.
* Experience with avionic systems, optical displays, mechatronics, electronics packaging, composites, additive manufacturing, and testing equipment.
* Experience preparing technical datasets (drawings/MBD).
* Proficiency with CAD tools, preferably CREO, and familiarity with TeamCenter, DOORs, and JIRA.
