Job Overview
To support the business in driving sales, marketing, and community engagement across GD Harries & Sons Ltd. This structured trainee role is designed to develop a future Commercial Manager over a five-year period, gaining experience across RMX, aggregates, asphalt, and corporate communications.
Key Responsibilities
Year 1–2: Foundations
· Support the sales team in pricing, customer quotes, order management, and account follow-up.
· Manage social media channels (Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, ) to promote brand visibility and key projects.
· Assist with market research and competitor benchmarking.
· Work with site teams to gather customer feedback, case studies, and content for marketing.
· Co-ordinate and manage delivery of community engagement and delivery of social value commitments.
· Learn about product range, technical standards (EN206/BS8500), and production workflows.
Year 3–4: Development
· Take ownership of a small portfolio of RMX accounts under supervision.
· Develop commercial awareness of aggregate and asphalt pricing models.
· Support tender submissions and framework applications.
· Lead campaigns for social value reporting and internal communications.
· Support recruitment marketing and graduate outreach.
· Attend industry networking events and customer meetings with senior staff.
Year 5: Transition to Manager
· Manage a regional sales area for RMX and contribute to aggregate/asphalt upsell opportunities.
· Lead marketing strategy development and content calendar planning.
· Represent the company in local authority, client and community engagement meetings.
· Act as internal champion for social value, ESG initiatives and brand storytelling.
· Mentor new commercial trainees or placement students.
Key Skills & Competencies
· Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal)
· Commercial awareness and numerical aptitude
· Creative thinker with an interest in branding and marketing
· Highly organised with attention to detail
· Confidence using digital tools (Microsoft 365, Canva, CRM, social media scheduling tools)
· Willingness to learn, adapt and travel to operational sites
Candidate Qualification & Experience
Minimum A-Level Educated - Essential
Full UK Driver Licence - Essential
Experience in sales, customer service or marketing - Desirable
Familiarity with Aggregate, RMX & Asphalt Sectors - Desirable

Pay: £28,000.00-£30,150.00 per year
