Position
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a School Nurse within our School Nursing Team based at Coylton Health Centre.
What You Will Do
The post holder will be a strengths based practitioner who is forward thinking and committed to delivering our values of caring, safe and respectful. The Post Holder will work in partnership with local children and their families alongside colleagues in the NHS and partnership agencies to enable children and young people achieve their optimum outcomes in health. The Post Holder will be well organised, have excellent communication skills and be passionate about improving outcomes for our children and young people. An awareness of the Children and Young People Scotland Act (2014), GIRFEC policy, The Promise and the School nursing reformed role and pathways is essential.

Qualifications and Experience
Applications are invited from registered nurses who have completed the Post Graduate Specialist Community Public Health Nursing (SCPHN) programme (school nursing). However, applications will also be considered from first level registered nurses with an existing first level degree and the academic study commitment to complete the Specialist Community Public Health Nurse programme. There will also be an expectation that following successful completion of an academic programme, candidates will remain within NHS Ayrshire and Arran. Applicants will remain in the school nursing team until commencement of the academic programme. Applicants will have excellent communication skills, be flexible and be a strong team player. Current experience working with Children and Young People and their families, working in multidisciplinary teams, as well as experience of caseload management is desirable.
Hours and Shift Pattern
(Monday-Friday, 0900-1700). This post is offered on a Permanent basis.
Driving Licence/Car Ownership
Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle is essential to this role.
