Finance Director/Financial Controller – Part Time Flexible Working
Working on a part time and flexible basis we are looking for an qualified accountant to take overall responsibility for the accounting function of our two businesses.
Ortolan Legal is a commercial law firm regulated and authorised by the Solicitors Regulation Authority and Ortolan People is a recruitment business. Both businesses are structured innovatively with the majority of their staff working on a flexible basis and remotely from their homes or from client premises.
We have a capable administrator and accounts assistant who manages all of the day to day bookkeeping, payroll and administrative functions for the businesses. Our current Financial Controller is moving on after over 10 years with us.
Key areas of responsibility:
Overseeing the accounting systems to support the running of the Group.
Producing the monthly management accounts.
Overseeing quarterly VAT returns.
Production of year-end statutory accounts to a high standard together with corporation tax returns and calculations, liaising with our external accountants as required.
Liaison with the external auditors who provide the SRA audit of the Ortolan Legal client account.
Company secretarial duties (as required) including filing Annual Returns, PSC returns and accounts and updating company details as required.
About you
We expect the successful candidate will be ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified.
You will be able to demonstrate significant experience of the type of support we require and will also be able to show us how you can add value to our businesses.
Able to provide us with the accounting oversight and advice we need as our businesses continue to grow.
You should be a qualified and experienced accountant, with an understanding of the solicitors accounts rules.
Your background may be in-house, private practice or a combination of these.
You should also be familiar with QuickBooks.
