Overview
Prospero Teaching is seeking a committed and supportive Learning Support Assistant to work with pupils in the Basingstoke area. This long‑term role focuses on providing additional assistance to children who may need support with learning, confidence, emotional regulation, or accessing the curriculum effectively. You will work alongside teachers and support staff to help pupils remain engaged in lessons, develop independence, and feel confident and supported throughout the school day.
Responsibilities
* Provide 1:1 and small‑group support to pupils requiring additional help
* Assist pupils with learning tasks, routines, and classroom activities
* Help students stay focused, confident, and motivated
* Support emotional regulation and positive behaviour
* Work closely with teachers and support staff to implement learning strategies
* Encourage independence, resilience, and social development
* Contribute to a calm, inclusive, and supportive learning environment
Qualifications and Experience
* Experience working with children or vulnerable individuals
* Calm, patient, and confident in a classroom setting
* Strong communication and teamwork skills
* Able to build positive relationships with pupils
* Adaptable and reliable
* Passionate about supporting children to reach their potential
* Psychology, education, or child‑related graduates encouraged to apply
Job Details
* Position: Learning Support Assistant
* Location: Basingstoke
* Start Date: ASAP
* Hours: Full‑time, term‑time
* Pay Rate: £14.66 - £15.66 per hour
* Contract: Long‑term
* Experience with children preferred
* SEND experience beneficial but not essential
* Safeguarding training can be provided
* Right to work in the UK
* Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one)
* Two relevant references
