General Description
To work under the instruction/guidance of Technology staff, providing general support in the Design and Technology subject area, including safe working order of tools, equipment and machines. Main Duties / Responsibilities Support for Students · Provide support for students in safely accessing practical learning activities under the guidance of the teacher in practical DT and engineering lessons.· Establish good working relationships with students, acting as a role model.· Promote inclusion and acceptance of all students.· Promote self-esteem and independence.
Support for the Teacher and Curriculum
· Create and maintain a purposeful, safe, orderly and productive working environment in the DT workshop and CAD suite (P9).
· Maintain specialist equipment, checking for quality and safety in accordance with instructions, and health and safety legislation, undertaking repairs/modifications with own capabilities and report other damages/needs to the appropriate person.
· Maintain CAM machines (3D printers, laser cutters) in CAD suite and DT workshop, including 3D printing and laser cutting students work.
· Adopt and adapt risk assessments, in collaboration of the teacher ensuring the safety of staff and students.
· Prepare requisitions for new stock/supplies under the direction of the appropriate person as required.
· Cut / prepare materials for students or staff demonstrations following directions of the teacher/schemes of work.
· Demonstrate and assist others in the safe and effective use of specialist equipment/materials.
Support for School
· Contribute to the school ethos, aims and development/improvement plan.
· Be aware of and support difference and ensure all students have equal access to opportunities to learn and develop, respecting their social, cultural, linguistic, religious and ethnic backgrounds.
· Work as part of a team, appreciating and supporting the role of other people in the team.
· Attend and participate in meetings as required.
· Undertake personal development through training and other learning activities including performance management as required.
· Assist with the organisation, routines and upkeep of the wider learning environment.
· Accompany teaching staff and students on visits, trips and out of school activities as required.
Other Duties
In addition to these specific responsibilities the post-holder is expected toBe aware of and comply with school policies and procedures relating to child protection, health, safety and security, confidentiality and data protection, reporting all concerns to an appropriate person.
The post holder is expected to safeguard and promote the welfare of every child in school and support the school's vision and ethos. The post holder may be required to undertake any additional responsibility that might reasonably be deemed to be part of the job.
