Role Overview We are seeking a motivated, target-driven, and commercially focused Account Manager to join our busy sales office in Biddulph (ST8 6HJ). This is a key role responsible for proactively identifying and contacting new customers, generating new business opportunities, and driving revenue growth. The successful candidate will also be responsible for maintaining and developing existing customer relationships, preparing accurate quotations, and supporting external sales colleagues to deliver excellent customer service and achieve business objectives. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong communication skills, commercial awareness, and the ability to manage multiple customer accounts effectively within a fast-paced environment. A confident and proactive approach to outbound calling and business development is essential for this role. This is an office-based role working 37.5 hours per week, working Monday to Friday, office hours, to be arranged. Key Responsibilities Proactively identify, contact and develop new customer accounts Identify and onboard creditworthy new customers in line with company procedures. Develop and deliver a structured programme of outbound sales activity, including promotional and cold calls, ensuring agreed contact targets with both existing customers and prospects are achieved. Manage incoming calls, maximising associates revenue opportunities. Build and maintain strong customer relationships to understand requirements and increase purchase frequency and account value. Monitor and improve conversion ratios across active, dormant and prospective accounts. Maintain accurate and up-to-date customer records, reports and database information. Work closely with the Sales Manager to achieve individual and team sales targets. Prepare accurate quotations and updated pricing for customers, ensuring timely and effective follow-up. Escalate quality management (non-conformance) and payment queries to the Sales Manager as appropriate. Ensure all sales enquiries are accurately recorded within the KliCC system. Check stock availability and raise customer orders in line with site capabilities, including lead times, stock levels and processing capacity. Candidate Profile Proven experience in a proactive sales or account management role (preferably within steel, metals, manufacturing or industrial sectors). Strong commercial awareness and results-driven mindset. Excellent communication and relationship-building skills. High level of organisation and attention to detail. Confident using CRM systems and Microsoft Office applications.
