Role Overview
This role is available to current employees at the University of Leeds only. The role will be based on the university campus with scope for it to be undertaken in a hybrid manner. We are also open to discussing flexible working arrangements.

An opportunity has arisen to support Sheffield City Council with their work on young people not in education, employment or training (NEET) as part of their NEET strategy. In this role you will undertake systems mapping, drawing on current research, data and analysis, to understand how young people transition to employment in Sheffield, where they are at risk of becoming NEET, and where they can become reengaged.
This work will be undertaken as part of the Sheffield Policy Campus partnership. This partnership includes Department for Education (DfE), Department for Work and Pensions (DWP), the Home Office, South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority (SYMCA), Sheffield City Council (SCC), Higher and Further Education institutions in the Sheffield region, as well as the University of Leeds.
The Sheffield Policy Campus's vision is to design policy that reflects real-world challenges faced by local communities by connecting policy professionals with academic researchers and local delivery partners to improve outcomes for citizens. Following the 2024 election, the Sheffield Policy Campus became the home for the Opportunities mission which aims to break the link between a child's background and their future success.
The systems mapping will be undertaken in partnership with Sheffield City Council and the Department for Education. The role will also involve drawing in connections to other Sheffield Policy Campus partners as and when relevant.
This role will be based within Policy Leeds, the University of Leeds hub for research-policy engagement. Policy Leeds supports the development of strategic relationship with policy partners as part of the University's civic work in the region.
The focus of this initial work will be to map pathways to employment in the construction sector and establish a framework to expand this to systems mapping other routes to employment.
