Electrical Project Engineer - U.K (Data Centres)
Location: Birmingham, UK
Salary: £75k-£80k DOE.
Up to 25 days Annual Leave, Pension, 9-day Fortnight.

Optimize Recruitment are working on behalf of a leading engineering consultancy to appoint a Senior Project Electrical Design Engineer for their new Birmingham office. This is a key hire supporting the launch of their UK operations, in close collaboration with an established Dublin team.
You’ll play a pivotal role in delivering hyperscale data centre projects across the EMEA region, contributing to high-profile, technically complex developments within a growing international environment.
The role will begin as fully remote, with a transition to a flexible hybrid model once the Birmingham office is operational.
Profile:
* Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering (or related discipline)
* Chartered status desirable, but not essential
* 10+ years’ experience in a senior electrical engineering role
* Proven experience in electrical building services design within data centre projects
* Strong technical knowledge of electrical design principles and methodologies
* Familiarity with relevant standards (ETCI, CIBSE, IEC, BS, IS, EN)
* Proficiency in industry software such as AutoCAD, Dialux, Amtech, and Revit
* Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage with multidisciplinary teams and clients
* Strong organisational and reporting capabilities, including Microsoft Office
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead electrical building services design across multiple projects
* Deliver full project lifecycle involvement, from concept design to completion
* Produce detailed electrical schematics and specifications
* Develop and maintain internal electrical design standards
* Prepare tender documentation, reports, and technical recommendations
* Monitor installation and quality on-site through to project completion
* Collaborate with clients, architects, and project managers
* Define project scope alongside the wider design team
* Produce budgets, reports, and technical documentation
* Mentor and support junior engineering staff
* Take ownership of projects with minimal senior management input
