You are well-versed in financial management, including accounting, budgetary control, and forecasting. You have experience handling high volumes of financial data and can effectively communicate and challenge budget holders and non-financial stakeholders. Qualification as an Accounting Technician, part-qualified CCAB Accountant, or equivalent experience is essential. You are flexible, organized, accurate, and thrive in a team environment. What the Job Involves The role entails working as part of an Operational Finance Team to deliver financial management services such as accounting, budgetary control, forecasting, and financial advice. You will support the development of strategic financial plans and models in collaboration with Finance Business Partners, assist in the council’s medium-term financial forecast (MTFF), and ensure compliance with Financial Regulations and Standing Orders. Your responsibilities will include managing financial data, liaising with internal and external bodies for accounts and returns, and providing financial inductions to new starters. You may also be required to provide constructive challenges, resolve complex queries, and support ad hoc tasks or projects. Skills Qualified Accounting Technician or equivalent experience Experience with management and financial accounting Experience in public/third sector finance Proficiency in Microsoft Office - Word, Excel, PowerPoint Familiarity with financial systems in large organizations Strong analytical and presentation skills Ability to build and maintain effective relationships Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal Customer-focused with the ability to provide tailored solutions
