Specialist Podiatrist

Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic specialist podiatrist to join our community based team.
Post offered – Specialist Podiatrist Band 6 – 32 hours
Working pattern: Monday‑Friday, 08.30‑16.30
Eligible for newly qualified podiatrists who will complete a development Band 5 programme; upon successful completion of preceptorship/competency programme they will progress to Band 6.
Location: Mansfield and Ashfield area of Nottingham. The role involves a mixed caseload – routine care, high‑risk wound care, domiciliary visits, and participation in a local nail surgery rota. The candidate must be able and willing to travel between multiple sites across the locality.
Opportunities for working within the Podiatric Surgery team, Community‑based Foot Protection Team, and Diabetic MDT hospital clinics across Nottinghamshire. Additional CPD training and internal career advancement are available.
Main duties of the job
* Provide assessment, diagnosis and implementation of individual treatment plans for patients, including discharge following set criteria.
* Support completion of nail surgery competency.
* Participate in annual appraisal and personal development plan.
* Receive peer support, continued professional development, and regular clinical supervision.
* Attend Nottinghamshire‑wide team meetings, training days (including POMs and LA updates).
* Maintain internal opportunities for career advancement.
Additional opportunities within Nottinghamshire
* Rotate into Podiatric Surgery, Community‑based Foot Protection Team and Diabetic MDT hospital‑based clinics.
* Work in a variety of clinical settings (domiciliary, clinical, and hospital) within the Nottinghamshire area.

Qualifications
* BSc or Diploma in Podiatry.
* Registry with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
* Further postgraduate study and interest in specialist field.
Experience
* Experience in NHS podiatry, team working, multidisciplinary and interagency working.
* Experience of a range of placements.
* Experience of using electronic patient record systems.
Skills
* Sound clinical reasoning skills.
* Evidence of a range of CPD activities.
* Ability to work effectively autonomously and as a team player, and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
* Excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills, time management, and adaptability.
* Provide direct care; exposure to highly unpleasant working conditions (e.g., ulcers, tissue breakdown, body fluids) and uncomfortable/restrictive environments (domiciliary visits in small cramped areas, awkward access).
* Evidence of working independently and managing own caseload.
Knowledge
* Understanding of podiatrist role in the NHS.
* Knowledge of relevant NHS policy and legal responsibilities.
* Evidence of continuous professional development.
* Clear understanding of core Trust values and ability to articulate them in practice.
* Awareness of wider NHS issues.

Training
* Local anaesthesia Certificate (POM A and S).
* Completed preceptorship.
* Membership of the Royal College of Podiatry.

Salary: £39,959 to £48,117 per annum (pro rata for part‑time).
