Skanska building services is looking for a Senior Design Manager (Mechanical) to join the team to effectively and professionally lead day-to-day design management of mechanical systems.
This scope will span operations in our new construction business as well as within our Capital Works projects in our facilities management portfolio across sectors such as commercial, healthcare, education, council, and defence.
The role will be the subject matter expert within the Mechanical discipline and will hold responsibility as one of the Authorised Design Managers for Building Services. This includes reviewing and implementing internal policies and ensuring statutory requirements are met.
What you’ll do:
* Lead Mechanical Design Management for our MEP and FM Capital Works projects.
* Ensure commitments under the Building Safety Act are met across our MEP construction and Facility Management Capital Works projects.
* Act as building services Authorised Design Manager as required by BU governance, determining design responsibilities (BSRIA BG6) and project team responsibilities (RACI).
* Support tender applications and PCSA periods, disseminate lessons learned, and ensure standards are met at design stages.
* Support our Temporary Works Designated Individual across projects.
* Add value by challenging solutions to improve buildability and reduce life-cycle costs.
* Coordinate design reviews with other experts in OE/Enviro/H&S/CDM/Fire, etc.
* Promote effective Design Management processes and use of CDE platforms.
* Review and score consultant performances.
* Lead internal CPD events to increase technical knowledge.
* Inspect works for compliance and report progress, ensuring timely remedial actions.
What you’ll achieve:
* Develop and implement Design Management processes.
* Attend contracts in person to build relationships and support.
* Conduct design reviews.
* Report risks, progress, and performance.
* Provide training to project teams.
* Support Technical Team and collaborate with Senior Technical Manager.
What you’ll bring to the role:
* Expertise in Design Management and mechanical building services design.
* Understanding of Building Safety Act and Regulations.
* Knowledge of HTM 06 and JSP.
* Proficiency with Excel, PowerBI, SharePoint, and automation.
* Chartered status or working towards it is beneficial.
