Specialty Doctor in Gastroenterology

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Specialty Doctor to join the Gastroenterology service at Cwm Taf Morgannwg (CTM) University Health Board.
The successful candidate will join a team consisting of 14 Consultant Gastroenterologists across CTM. The candidate will assist in providing inpatient and outpatient care to all Gastroenterology patients within the CTM catchment area.
There are two Speciality Doctor vacancies, both will be based in Royal Glamorgan Hospital in Llantrisant with an expectation to undertake duties at the Princes of Wales Hospital.
There will be a requirement to travel across sites within CTM.
There are no on-call commitments with this role.
Main duties of the job
You will provide a clinical service in conjunction with your colleagues and under the direction of the Consultant Gastroenterologist, which will include the responsibility for the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of illness.
Will provide inpatient care to all patients admitted on the Gastroenterology Ward under the supervision and direction of the named Gastroenterology Consultant.
Support the Ambulatory Gastroenterology service and provide clinical support to colleagues on the unit.
You will be required to adhere to the principles of good medical practice laid down in the guidance of 'Good Medical Practice' issued by the General Medical Council.
Support Outpatient Gastroenterology clinics for a named consultant undertaking outpatients reviews under supervision. The post holder will be involved with the examination and treatment of new patients in the department and will also assist in the review clinics.
You will be expected to deputise for absent colleagues and in exceptional unforeseen circumstances may have to perform additional duties to ensure the safe running of the department. Where such duties take place outside your normal contracted duties, you will receive either an equivalent off duty period or will be remunerated appropriately.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Full GMC Registration
* Completed at least four years' full-time postgraduate training (or its equivalent gained on a part-time or flexible basis) at least two of which will be in a specialty training Programme in a relevant specialty or as a fixed term specialty trainee in a relevant specialty; or Equivalent experience and competencies
Experience
* Experience of working in a similar role within the NHS
