Job Title: Attendance and Family Support Worker

Salary: £35,852 - £39,649 (CLF Grade E) Based on Full Time hours, All year round.

Actual Starting Salary: £24,891 - £27,528 Based on Term Time only plus inset days.

Hours: 30 hours per week. (There is some flexibility with working hours for the right candidate discussed at interview)

Contract: Permanent

Provisional Start date: 20 April 2026

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Attendance and Family Support Officer at Woodlands Academy. We are seeking an individual with a deep understanding of the barriers to attendance, who will build strong relationships with students and their families and is able to advocate on their behalf where needed, to ensure students receive the suitable education to which they are entitled. The attached person specification and job description outline the duties and responsibilities.

The Attendance and Family Support Officer will work in partnership with parents and carers to support their children and understand their needs. The aim is to improve pupils school attendance and engagement with learning. The postholders will work proactively, finding ways to make the academy as inclusive and accessible as possible; and will increase parental engagement.

The Attendance and Family Support Officer will provide high quality, impartial, solutions focussed pastoral support and guidance to students and their families. They will enable students to achieve to their full potential, raise aspirations and facilitate academic progress. Will work in partnership with parents to strengthen parental capacity, promote understanding of their childs needs, improve family relationships and increase parental engagement.

About You

You will have:

The understanding of the range of issues that can affect young people, their families, and disadvantaged sections of the community and a willingness to keep up to date with developments in this area
A professional qualification in working with young people or related field and/or equivalent experience.
Good literacy and numeracy skills evidenced by GCSE Maths and English or equivalent qualifications or equivalent experience and AS/A level or equivalent qualification.
Full, clean driving licence with willingness to obtain business insurance and daily access to car or other suitable vehicle
Experience of developing and maintaining effective relationships with parents and pupils
Practical experience of working with parents one-to-one and experience of providing support to families in their own home.
