Summary:
We are delighted to be partnering with a well-established engineering company to recruit a Purchasing / Procurement Manager. This role is focused on ensuring customer orders for both manufactured and sourced products are delivered accurately and on time, supporting the overall success of the business.
You’ll also be responsible for planning production capacity to maintain efficiency and ensure customer lead times are consistently achieved.
As Purchasing/Procurement Manager, you’ll report to the Operations Manager and work closely with the Finance Director, as well as collaborate with teams across all departments.
Key responsibilities:
* Develop and implement sourcing strategies for raw materials, parts, and equipment.
* Identify, evaluate, and manage suppliers to ensure quality, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.
* Negotiate contracts and pricing to optimise procurement spend.
* Collaborate across departments to align purchasing with operational requirements.
* Monitor supplier performance and resolve delivery, quality, or compliance issues.
* Maintain accurate records of purchases, inventory, and supplier evaluations.
* Ensure compliance with industry regulations, safety standards, and company policies.
* Analyse market trends to anticipate risks and cost fluctuations.
* Drive continuous improvement in procurement processes and supplier relationships.
Communication & Coordination:
* Internal: Prioritise requirements, collaborate across teams, provide reports, and promote process improvements.
* External: Manage supplier communications, clarify order queries, and advise on major plan changes.
* Information Management: Maintain accurate customer, stock, and SOP data; report on performance and KPIs.
* Team Management: Allocate tasks, motivate and support staff, and manage team performance.

Ideal Candidate:
* Proven experience as a Procurement Manager (ideally in manufacturing or industrial settings).
* Strong knowledge of supply chain management, procurement processes, and vendor negotiation.
* Familiarity with manufacturing materials (metals, plastics, electronics) and production timelines.
* Skilled in ERP and procurement software.
* Excellent analytical, communication, and leadership abilities.
* Degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, or related field (CIPS/APICS preferred).
