Description
NCO2 Team Leader to undertake activities related to locating and repairing Public Reported gas escapes. Responsibilities include making safe and repairing gas service pipes or mains, re-assessing previous escapes, laying mains and/or services, and carrying out mains/service isolations. The role requires exceptional customer service skills, enthusiasm, and the ability to promote safe working practices while maintaining efficiency and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
To carry out this role, you must have a full valid driver’s licence and be able to be clean shaven every day for health and safety.
Your daily duties include:
1. Team Leader Duties
2. Attending gas leaks
3. Groundwork excavations and reinstatements
4. Utilising appropriate signing, lighting, and guarding
5. Ensuring cable avoidance
6. Delivering equipment and tools as required
7. Patrol and plant protection
8. Working on deep excavations up to 2.5m
9. Working on standby rota system
Experience and Qualifications
Must have a full valid driver’s licence and be able to be clean shaven daily for health and safety.
Activities include supporting classification and programming of gas escapes, testing, survey, detection, and diagnostic work on the network and in consumers' premises. The role involves:
* Receiving instructions via data and verbal requests, planning, and organizing resources efficiently.
* Assisting in laying, connecting, disconnecting, commissioning, decommissioning, and maintaining pipework and associated equipment, including non-routine work and specialized tasks.
* Responding to emergencies, participating in standby, and assisting in testing, surveying, detection, and diagnostics.
* Carrying out excavation, backfill, reinstatement, and repair work to required standards, including waste removal.
* Providing training, advice, guidance, and support to teams and individuals maintaining the gas system.
* Advising third parties operating near or on the gas system.
* Gathering information and preparing reports, including technical documentation.
* Managing equipment and materials procurement, inspection, storage, and distribution according to standards.
* Promoting team working and development to achieve business objectives and improve performance.
