Can you assure, advise, anticipate and accelerate? If so, we’re looking for a Senior Specialist Auditor to join our Group Internal Audit team. If you’re experienced in leading audits, supporting complex reviews and building and maintaining strong stakeholder relationships – we want to hear from you.
Who Are We?
Not just another building society. Not just another job.
The Skipton Group is made up of Skipton Building Society; Connells Group, the largest UK estate agency and property services provider; offshore finance capability through Skipton International; Skipton Business Finance; and Jade Software Corporation.
Collectively, we’re driven by the desire to make every experience better, whether it’s looking for a home to rent, finding a mortgage to buy a home or understanding the way an unexpected inheritance can unlock new horizons for life ahead. With every step we take, we want to deliver value for our members alongside value for wider society, so that an investment with Skipton means a better society for all.
Our colleagues say Skipton's a great place to work, and you could be one of them, bringing with you new ideas on how we can keep customers at the heart of what we do.
Whatever your background, and whatever your goals, we'll help you take the next step towards a better future.
What Will You Be Doing?
Group Internal Audit (GIA) is a department of over 35 colleagues. Reporting into the Head of Audit, you will be joining our team of seven who deliver Operational and Conduct risks across the whole of the Connells Group.
You will work closely with the wider GIA team and Second Line functions to provide timely assurance and advisory services, ensuring key risks are effectively managed. You will also work on developing the GIA strategy, including innovating and advancing our use of data analytics, visualisation, AI, agile auditing, and continuous monitoring.
As a Senior Specialist Auditor, you will lead or support a wide range of audits covering all aspects of the Connells Group, including assessing:
* Operational and conduct risks in Group functions and business areas including Estate Agency, Lettings, Survey and Valuations, and Conveyancing;
* FCA regulated activities provided through our Mortgage Services businesses;
* Financial Crime;
* Data Protection; and
* Change Management.
This role offers an excellent opportunity to develop your leadership and technical skills in Operational and Conduct Risk auditing, through leading small teams and supporting the coaching and development of junior colleagues.
The Skipton Group Head Office is based in Skipton, with Connells Group operations extending across the UK. Due to the role's nature, work away from home may be up to 30% of your time.
What Do We Need From You?
We seek someone with experience in Operational and Conduct related audits who can support risk management as part of the third line of defence within the Connells Group. You should be able to manage varying workloads and build relationships with stakeholders at all levels. The key competencies include:
* Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written);
* Leading and motivating small teams;
* Delivering audits within tight deadlines;
* Analytical skills;
* Stakeholder management;
* Using data analytics and visualisation to support audit testing and reporting;
* Experience in regulated environments such as Financial Services and Property Services sectors;
* Understanding new and changing regulations; and
* Organisational skills to manage multiple priorities.
What’s In It For You?
Skipton values work/life balance and supports hybrid and flexible working where possible. Our recently refurbished head office offers a vibrant, collaborative workspace. Benefits include:
* Annual discretionary bonus scheme;
* 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays, increasing to 30 days with service;
* Holiday trading scheme;
* Matching employer pension contributions (up to 10%);
* Colleague mortgage scheme (conditions apply);
* Salary sacrifice for hybrid & electric cars;
* Training and development opportunities;
* Private medical insurance;
* Three paid volunteering days per year;
* Inclusive colleague networks (e.g., Carers, Pride);
* Health and wellbeing benefits, including cycle to work and gym discounts.
