JOB DESCRIPTION & PERSON SPECIFICATION
Job Title: Grounds and Maintenance Operative
Department: Reporting To: Parish Manager
Purpose of the Role:
To carry out general grounds and maintenance tasks in line with the requirements set by the Kingsnorth Parish Council including maintenance of Parish Council owned land, property and/or assets managed by the Parish Council..
Duties and Responsibilities:
* To follow the Grounds and Maintenance weekly work programme.
* Tasks will include use of appropriate machinery / equipment for the maintenance of Parish Council owned land (for example but not limited to strimmer's, mowers, hedge cutters and chain saws) Full training on the use of such equipment will be provided prior to first use and as necessary thereafter, as outlined below.
* Undertake necessary training as required to operate machinery / equipment.
* Drive the Councils vehicles both on and off site to transport equipment and goods.
* Carry out weekly litter picking around the Parish of Kingsnorth as directed by the Parish Manager.
* There will be a requirement to work outdoors in inclement weather to carry out litter picking, grass cutting and other tasks.
* Open and close the Kingsnorth Sports Pavilion for bookings when required including the Kingsnorth Community Café.
* Support Kingsnorth Parish Council Staff and Councillors at Parish events as required this could be helping set up, clear away or other duties leading up to, during and after the event.
* Deliver promotional leaflets or material when required to houses and businesses within the local area.
* To cover annual leave and sickness of other Parish Staff when required.
* To carry out weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual maintenance checks when required in our Sports Pavilion and at our Parish owned Play Parks.
* Undertake maintenance tasks within the Councils land and properties (and facilities) including minor repair work, painting, general maintenance to ensure a high standard of public service is always provided.
* To oversee or work with outside contractors when required.
* To carry out any other reasonable duties as requested.
Skills, Education and Experience Required:
Experience:
Previous experience of grounds and maintenance or general repairs.
Previous experience of manual handling and working outdoors.
Desired Skills (We happy to provide training to the right person|):
Ability to drive a vehicle and/or a ride on grass cutter.
Willingness to undertake training and development.
Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.
Special Conditions:
Full Drivers Licence.
Willingness to work unsocial hours.
