Job overview

Norfolk and Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust provides child and adult mental health services, learning disability, wellbeing, older people’s and eating disorder services across Norfolk and Suffolk. This is an innovative service offering assessment and treatment of young people between 14 and 25 with a variety of complex mental health needs. We are looking for psychology graduates with previous Assistant Psychologist or relevant clinical experience who are interested in working with young people with emotional and mental health difficulties, who can be compassionate, thoughtful and have the ability to apply psychological theory to their work.

Applicants are requested to answer the following question in 500 words or less at the beginning of the supporting information section on the application form: “How may you need to differentiate your treatment offer for young people accessing our moderate to severe mental health service to meet their needs?” Please note that applications that do not follow these guidelines will not be considered for shortlisting.


Main responsibilities

Within this role the post holder will assist in assessing, formulating and delivering a range of psychological interventions to young people and families across the CAMHS age range, including opportunities to deliver both group and family interventions. Working as part of the MDT, this role will involve collaborating with staff to offer psychologically informed care, develop psychological formulations and support the wider team with undertaking routine outcome measures and reporting on these outcomes.

Further responsibilities include conducting reviews alongside Clinical Psychologists, supporting the wider psychological therapies team, monitoring clients on waiting lists, and potentially participating in service evaluation.

Qualifications

* A BPS accredited degree in Psychology


Experience

* Experience of quantitative research
* Experience of research in the NHS


Skills

* Skills using microcomputers for database or data analysis, especially SPSS for Windows
* Presentation skills
* Ability to communicate sensitive information to patients and colleagues


Knowledge

* Knowledge of mental health
* High standard of report writing
* Understanding of psychology applied to healthcare
* Understanding of the needs and difficulties of people with mental health problems or other disabilities
* Ability to apply existing knowledge to a mental health context


Other

* Ability to interact effectively with staff from all disciplines
* Ability to accept and use supervision appropriately and effectively
* Ability to travel independently
