Temporary Payroll Clerk | Ellesmere, Shropshire | 2-3 months (possibly extended) | Hybrid | Hourly rate negotiable on experience
Seymour John are recruiting on behalf of a well-established business based in Ellesmere, Shropshire, who are seeking an experienced Payroll Clerk to support their busy payroll function on a temporary basis.
We’re urgently looking for a confident payroll professional to manage end-to-end processing for approximately 700 weekly employees within a fast-paced environment.
The Opportunity
Key responsibilities will include:
* End-to-end processing of weekly payroll (circa 700 employees)
* Collating and validating timesheets and attendance data
* Managing starters, leavers, and payroll amendments
* Processing statutory payments (SSP, SMP, etc.)
* Handling deductions (tax, NI, pensions, etc.)
* Resolving payroll queries from employees
* Ensuring compliance with HMRC regulations and payroll legislation
* Reconciling payroll reports and supporting audit requirements
* Maintaining accurate payroll records
Personal Profile
We’re looking for a detail-oriented and reliable payroll professional who can work accurately under pressure and manage high-volume workloads. Key skills/experience required:
* Proven experience in end-to-end payroll processing
* Experience managing high-volume payrolls (ideally 500+ employees)
* Strong knowledge of UK payroll legislation, including HMRC requirements
* Excellent attention to detail and ability to meet tight weekly deadlines
* Strong communication skills with the ability to handle payroll queries effectively
* A proactive, hands-on approach with the ability to work independently
