Overview We are looking to appoint a dynamic and enthusiastic consultant radiologist with an interest in Cardiothoracic radiology to cover the increasing growth in cardiac and thoracic imaging over recent years. The applicant should be able to demonstrate ongoing and current expertise in cardiac CT and cardiac MRI, also experience of independent reporting with skills to support the acute weekday diagnostic radiology service. This post holder may have to cover sessions at Bournemouth and Poole Hospitals. UHD radiology supports the provision of specialised adult cardiac services for a population of one million, including much of Dorset, parts of Wiltshire and Hampshire, in addition to general cardiology for the local population. The Thoracic Medicine Department provides comprehensive respiratory care across Bournemouth and Poole. All patients are discussed in the relevant cardiac, thoracic radiology and lung cancer MDTs with specialist radiology input.
Responsibilities
Provide comprehensive cardiothoracic imaging services, covering cardiac CT and cardiac MRI.
Produce independent, high‑quality radiology reports and support the acute weekday diagnostic radiology service.
Cover imaging sessions at Bournemouth and Poole Hospitals as required.
Participate actively in cardiac, thoracic radiology, and lung cancer multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings.
Support imaging meetings relevant to cardiothoracic and cancer care.
Qualifications
FRCR or equivalent
Full registration with GMC and license to practice.
Entry on the GMS specialist register via CCST, CESR or European Community. Pre‑CCST candidates will be considered if eligible for interview 6 months prior to CCST date (at date of interview).
BSCI or SCCT level 2 cardiac CT accreditation.
SCMR or EACVI level 2 Cardiac MRI accreditation.
Other post‑graduate teaching and/or research qualifications.
Experience
Evidence of knowledge base as shown by FRCR and CCT.
Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Able to independently protocol and report subspecialist investigations and support cancer MDTs and imaging meetings relevant to this role.
Broad experience of all aspects of acute Radiology. Subspeciality training in cardiothoracic radiology.
Participation in subspecialty cancer MDTs and imaging meetings relevant to this role.
Cardiothoracic imaging fellowship or other post‑CCT subspecialist experience in abdominal imaging.
General ultrasound skills.
