Job Purpose
Reporting to the Head of School, the post-holder will be responsible for providing technical support and assistance to lecturers and courses in the relevant curriculum area.
Essential Criteria
1. Hold GCSE English (Grade A‑C) / Essential Skills Level 2 (or higher) in Communication; and GCSE Maths (Grade A‑C) / Essential Skills Level 2 (or higher) in Numeracy, or NICATS Access Maths Modules.
2. Hold a University Degree in Counselling or a university degree with a minimum content of 50% in Counselling (applicants must detail the modules relating to counselling on the application). OR hold a Level 5 Counselling qualification or a Level 5 qualification with a minimum content of 50% in Counselling (applicants must demonstrate the qualification has 50% counselling content). This qualification should be at Level 5 or above on the Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF) / National Qualifications Framework (NQF) for England and Northern Ireland.
3. Have 3 years relevant industrial, professional or business experience.
4. Have excellent administrative, planning and organisational skills.
5. Have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral.
Desirable Criteria
1. Have experience of teaching/training Counselling curriculum at Level 2 and above.
2. Demonstrate evidence of post‑qualifying practice as a counsellor.
3. Hold a Post Graduate Certificate in Further Education (PGCE) qualification.
4. Demonstrate competency in IT skills.
