Overview
This post is attached to the department of colorectal surgery based primarily at the Freeman Hospital, with some duties possibly including on-call at the Royal Victoria Infirmary. The individual will work alongside the colorectal surgeons at the Freeman Hospital, at the specialist registrar level, and will be expected to perform duties and take clinical responsibility at this level. This Peri CCT Fellow post in Colorectal Surgery will be based at the Freeman Hospital, Newcastle upon Tyne. It will be attractive to Peri and Post CCT individuals who require additional specialist training prior to applying for a consultant post.
The successful candidate will be expected to have demonstrated a commitment to Colorectal Surgery and to hold an accredited certification in Robotic Surgery.
Responsibilities
* Based at the Freeman Hospital, contribute to general and specialized colorectal surgery, with opportunities to gain extensive experience in laparoscopic and robotic colorectal surgery, robotic abdominal wall and pelvic surgery, TEMS, extended resections for recurrent/locally advanced rectal cancer, and abdominopelvic sarcoma surgery.
* Work alongside colorectal surgeons and undertake duties at the specialist registrar level, including clinical responsibility at this level.
* Support teaching, education, research and audit within the department.
* Engage with flexible working arrangements where possible to balance service needs and personal circumstances.
Qualifications and Experience
* Committed to Colorectal Surgery with an accredited certification in Robotic Surgery.
* Significant surgical experience, particularly toward the end of training, with interest in further experience prior to commencing work as a consultant.
* Experience in laparoscopic and robotic colorectal procedures and related surgical areas as described in the responsibilities.
