We have some exciting news at University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust.
The Community Midwifery team based at Helme Chase Maternity unit, Kendal are looking to recruit enthusiastic and dynamic band 6 Midwives. (We will consider band 5 Midwives approaching the end of their preceptorship period)
You will be a passionate, professional and kind midwife embedded in woman centredness. Ideally you will be a car driver and have a flexible approach to work within the team to provide overnight availability in the form of on call, to help facilitate the home birth service and to provide antenatal, postnatal and intrapartum care at Helme Chase birth centre.
You may be an experienced Community Midwife or a Midwife looking for a new career direction.
Main duties of the job
* To work as an autonomous practitioner within a multi-disciplinary team.
* To work within the Community Midwifery Team and maintain a good relationship with other members of the team ensuring women receive optimal care.
* To provide high quality women centred Maternity care.
* To provide effective leadership, optimise teaching opportunities and give support to all grades of staff; planning and directing activities to provide the optimal standard of care.
* To give appropriate education to women and their families and give necessary care, advice and supervision throughout the pregnancy continuum.
* To be happy to work alongside and facilitate the learning of both student midwives and medical students.
* To ensure appropriate referral for mother or child, as required to other agencies and Specialist Midwifery team.
* To give necessary care advice and supervision to women and their families, wherever possible/appropriate.
Person specification
Education and qualifications
* Registered Midwife
* Evidence of ongoing professional development
* Current driving Licence
* 1st level degree in relevant field
Experience
* Evidence of clinical competence/to work autonomously within multi-disciplinary team
* Ability to make appropriate clinical decisions and prioritise care needs
* Ability to make appropriate clinical decisions and prioritise care needs
Skills, ability and knowledge
* Committed to CPD of self and others
* Knowledge of research methodology
* Understanding the role of Research and Development
