Job Title: Civil Engineering Assessor/Trainer

Role Purpose:
You’ll take charge of a group of learners, coaching, mentoring and training them to smash their apprenticeships on time.
Here’s how you’ll make it happen:
* Be their guide: Take full responsibility for your caseload of learners, helping them every step of the way.
* Progress checks: Hold regular progress reviews, giving learners, employers and colleagues constructive feedback.
* Main point of contact: Build great relationships with learners and employers, acting as the go-to person for questions, updates and support.
* Collaborate with employers: Work with employers to set up activities and tasks that help learners build their skills, knowledge and behaviours.
* Skill development: Help learners develop and track their knowledge, skills and behaviours effectively.
* Life skills: Go beyond the basics by delivering targeted training that builds learners’ wider life skills.

Key Duties:
You’ll play a key role in organizing, providing, monitoring, and assessing training and support for learners throughout their programs. Think of yourself as the ultimate connector between the college, employers, and learners to make everything run smoothly!
Here’s how you’ll make it happen:
* Sign them up: Work with learners and employers to complete the sign-up process. Make sure all the paperwork is spot-on and completed efficiently.
* Starting points: Assess where learners are starting from to create a learning plan that works for them.
* Ongoing guidance: Provide info, advice and guidance to learners and employers, ensuring everyone knows about the support available—like careers advice and wellbeing resources.
* Training plans: Design individual training plans that set learners up for success, especially when it comes to assessments and EPA (End Point Assessment).
* Assessment prep: Get learners ready for gateway reviews and EPAs with clear plans and timelines, making sure everyone’s on the same page.
* Deliver training: Provide training sessions at employer or college sites to help learners build their knowledge, skills, and behaviours.
* Top-notch assessments: Conduct assessments that meet the highest standards set by the college and awarding organisations. Present learners’ work for quality assurance as needed.
* Off-the-job training: Ensure off-the-job training is properly planned, tracked and monitored as part of each learner’s training plan.
* Resource creator: Use tools like Smart Assessor and the VLE to develop materials and resources that keep learners progressing.
* Review meetings: Set up regular reviews with learners and employers to check progress, give feedback and adjust goals as needed.
* Support portfolios: Help learners build their KSB e-portfolios and keep everything on track for assessments.
* Time management: Keep timelines tight—set objectives and deadlines, track outcomes and make sure everyone stays on schedule.
* Feedback collection: Gather and log feedback from learners and employers to keep improving the process.
* Skills support: Boost learners’ English, maths and digital skills.
* Pastoral care: Ensure learners have access to safeguarding, Prevent, Equality, Diversity, British Values and other key supports.
* Inductions: Deliver thorough induction programs that set learners up for success from day one.
* Employer partnerships: Make sure employers know their role in supporting the learners and help strengthen that collaborative relationship.
* Associated administration
Key Skills/Experience Required:
* A good standard of education
* Experience in a similar role
* Level 3 relevant vocational qualification and relevant vocational CPD (Civil Engineering)
* Level 3 TAQA or Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Qualifications (or equivalent, A1, etc)
* Good basic knowledge of IT packages
* A friendly and welcoming nature
* The ability to work independently and as a team
