Job summary
As an event paramedic you will be part of the medical provision at operational events covered by St. John Ambulance Cymru. You will often be the initial healthcare professional to attend patients in the pre-hospital setting, usually working on an ambulance or rapid response vehicle. You will be expected to work autonomously where appropriate and often alongside a wider multidisciplinary team.
Volunteering is at the core of the charity and at most events you will be assisted by St. John Ambulance Cymru volunteers. You will be required to provide effective clinical leadership, development, and mentorship to other personnel.
Main duties of the job
1. Undertake a full range of paramedic duties in line with professional scope of practice, JRCALC guidelines and St. John Ambulance Cymru policy and procedures.
2. As appropriate, assess, manage, discharge, and convey patients.
3. Work as part of a multidiscplinary team to ensure the best possible outcomes for patients.
4. Where required, administer medications in line with professional scope of practice and in adherence with St. John Ambulance Cymru medicines management policy.
5. Provide leadership and support to St John Ambulance Cymru first aiders and ambulance crews.

6. Undertake a full range of paramedic duties in line with professional scope of practice, JRCALC guidelines and St. John Ambulance Cymru policy and procedures.

8. Where required, administer medications in line with professional scope of practice and in adherence with St. John Ambulance Cymru medicines management policy.
9. Meet the standards set out in the St. John Ambulance Cymru healthcare professionals and clinical practice policy.
10. Maintain up to date with continual professional development and the requirements of the HCPC.
11. Maintain ability to operate in line with HCPC standards of proficiency.
12. Maintain accurate clinical records in line with St. John Ambulance Cymru policy and procedures.
13. Drive the organisations vehicles in accordance with the vehicle and driving policy, under emergency conditions where necessary and appropriate.
14. On commencement of duty, check all relevant equipment to ensure it is functioning correctly and ready for use, report any defects to the event manager.
15. Assist with the induction and mentorship of new staff and volunteers as required.
16. Maintain professional registration with the health and care professions council.
17. Carry out any other reasonable tasks requested by St. John Ambulance Cymru management.
18. Maintain and hold a current Enhanced DBS certificate

Qualifications
Essential
27. HCPC Registered paramedic, with 2 years experience
28. Safeguarding level 1 & 2 adults and children
29. Full UK category B and C1 driving licence
30. Current certificate in emergency ambulance response driving or equivalent
31. Current Enhanced DBS Clearance

32. JESIP training
33. Welsh Speaker
34. Mentoring qualification
35. Full UK driving licence with no more than 3 penalty point
