What is the main purpose of your role?
We are seeking a compassionate, reliable and dedicated Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to provide one to one medical support for a child with type 1 diabetes in our Early Years setting. You will play a vital role in ensuring the pupil's health, safety, and well-being throughout the school day while offering general support in the EYFS class where possible.
What will the job entail?
* Providing daily one-to-one support for a child with type 1 diabetes, including monitoring blood glucose levels and responding to their medical needs in line with the Medical Care Plan (training provided).
* Working closely with class teachers, the SENDCo, healthcare professionals, and the child's family to ensure consistent care and communication.
* Promoting a nurturing, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment that supports all children's academic progress and emotional well-being.
* Supporting EYFS pupils to learn as directed by the class teacher.
Your responsibilities
* Fulfil the professional responsibilities of a support staff member.
* Support the class teacher in delivering high-quality learning experiences, in line with the Teachers' Standards and the school's expectations.
* Work collaboratively with colleagues to implement Medical Care Plans.
* Ensure the child's medical needs are safely and sensitively met throughout the school day, including during playtimes, lunchtimes, and educational visits.
What you will need
Qualifications and Skills:
* GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and mathematics
* Basic understanding of supporting children with medical needs or willingness to undertake relevant training
* No prior experience necessary

* A calm, nurturing, and patient approach with young children.
* Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a professional team
* A positive, solution-focused mindset with resilience, kindness, and flexibility
* Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
