Section Engineer Location: Brackley Salary: £450 - £500 per day Summary We are seeking a skilled Section Engineer with strong Earthworks experience to join our team delivering civil engineering works on an 80km section of the new high-speed rail link between the Chiltern Tunnel and Long Itchington Wood. Based in the Brackley area, you will report to the Sub Agent and supervise the site engineering team from construction through to project close out. Your role will include assisting with temporary works design schemes, allocating labour, plant, and materials in collaboration with the Sub Agent and Section Foreman to ensure works are completed to the required standards, programme, and budget. You will manage the site setting-out team and oversee the performance and development of Site Engineers. Identifying and resolving technical issues on site in liaison with the Sub Agent will be a key responsibility. Additionally, you will monitor and coordinate subcontractors to ensure their works meet contractual requirements. You will ensure the team has all current information and resources to perform their duties effectively and assist with the production of programmes, progress reports, resource and cost plans, contributing to financial forecasting. Skills HNC/Degree in Construction or Civil Engineering (or equivalent) Practical knowledge of site engineering activities and construction supervision Experience in earthworks, utilities, heavy structures, or drainage Ability to manage and develop site engineering teams Competent in temporary works design and implementation Strong problem-solving and technical issue resolution skills Effective coordination and management of subcontractors Excellent communication and team leadership skills Full UK driving licence with access to a vehicle Valid CSCS card (White, White-Yellow, Red, Black, or Gold) SSSTS or SMSTS certification Software/Tools Common site engineering and setting-out equipment (Total Station, GPS, EDM) Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) Certifications & Standards CSCS card (any recognised level as specified) SSSTS or SMSTS (Site Supervisor or Manager Safety Training Scheme) Full UK driving licence This role offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to a major national infrastructure project, working within a collaborative and safety-focused environment
