Finance Business Partner - Desk Complex Engineering — Openreach
Location: London Colney, England, United Kingdom. This role can be based in Birmingham, Bristol or London.

Openreach Limited is a wholly owned subsidiary of BT Group. We look after the copper wires and fibre cables that connect homes and businesses to phone and broadband. Our customers are the 650+ communications providers who sell phone and broadband services to these households and businesses.
Why this role matters
This is an important business partner role, reporting directly to one of the Senior Finance Business Partners for the Complex Engineering unit. You will be accountable for around 900 headcount and leading the relationship with the Director of the Complex Engineering desk team, with support to other desk team Directors covering Programme Management, Resourcing & Innovation. You will help deliver annual targets covering Capex, Opex, TLC and TLR, and be accountable for around £15m annually of external third party contractor spend across the desk teams.
Responsibilities
* Show financial accountability, control and stewardship over four separate teams totalling more than 900 FTE and associated P&L.
* Work with the team to provide insights and key reports, aligned to the FP&A strategy for the CFU / CU.
* Business partner with customer team to provide financial insights to inform strategic decision making, and drive revenue performance.
* Control headcount and P&L cost for the units covered.
* Measure financial performance (both financial and operational) and drive successful outcomes against objectives.
* Manage financial risks and opportunities for the unit.
* Improve understanding and impact of financial reporting on performance of the business unit.
* Drive the creation of quarterly forecasts and annual budget.
* Link business strategy to financial reporting, KPIs, and goal setting in area of responsibility.
* Continuously develop and share knowledge on emerging trends and changes in financial planning principles and practices.
* Consider risk, regulation and uncertainty in short-term decisions and ensure risks are identified and managed by establishing clear accountabilities and supporting an appropriate risk culture and control environment.
* Implement continuous improvement opportunities to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of financial planning processes and to resolve data issues impacting productivity and compliance.
The Skills You’ll Need
* Qualified Accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA or equivalent)
* Willingness to positively influence business performance by using data, commentary and analysis to inform decision making.
* An expert in their field with credibility in engaging across the business.
* Ability to matrix-manage cross-business teams to complex and multi-phase solutions.
