About the Role
As a Merchandiser, you’ll be responsible for planning and trading departmental sales and markdown budgets, managing stock levels, and delivering a balanced, timely, and commercial range. You’ll play a key role in driving profit ahead of sales, while mentoring and developing a high-performing team of Junior and Assistant Merchandisers.
Key Responsibilities
1. Develop and execute a robust financial strategy including profit, sales, margin, and promotional planning.
2. Partner with Buying and Design to shape the seasonal strategy, ensuring key looks and high-ranking lines are prioritized.
3. Own departmental stock management, capacity planning, and supplier strategy.
4. Lead event sign-offs and ensure alignment across the George business.
5. Forecast markdown risks, manage OTB, and identify stock opportunities.
6. Inspire and develop your team through regular 1:1s, performance reviews, and clear development plans.
7. Foster a collaborative, high-performance culture across the department.
About You
8. Proven experience in merchandising, ideally within fashion or retail.
9. Strong commercial acumen with a track record of delivering profit growth.
10. Excellent leadership and team development skills.
11. Confident working cross-functionally and influencing at all levels.
12. Analytical mindset with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
