About the role
From 2026-27 our GCSE Maths provision will be integrated within curriculum areas. We have created this new role, on the management pay spine. Reporting to the Head of GCSE, you will coordinate and improve the delivery of maths qualifications at Level 2 and below across the College, including GCSE and Functional Skills provision for both young people and adults.
Responsibilities
You will develop high quality schemes of learning for GCSE maths tutors and provide them with impactful teaching materials. You will also teach up to 420 hours of maths each year (approximately 12 hours per week), including small group intervention work. You will inspire learners, build their confidence, and support them in achieving their academic potential in Mathematics, ensuring they are well prepared for their exams and future progression.
Qualifications
A highly successful practitioner with a recent or current track record of high quality teaching with high success rates, you will possess a relevant degree or professional qualification, and a Level 5 (or above) teaching qualification. You will have a wide repertoire of teaching methods and be able to meet the needs of students who study GCSE maths alongside their chosen vocational course. You will be a positive role model capable of motivating reluctant learners in our foundation maths provision. You will bring proven experience of teaching maths at GCSE level, ideally within a further education environment, and be confident in delivering the GCSE curriculum and preparing learners for examinations. Strong administrative, communication, and interpersonal skills, along with a collaborative approach to working within a team, are essential.
