We are acting for a renowned and fast-moving literary and entertainment agency working across publishing, media and franchise management. The business spans everything from representing world-class talent and negotiating complex rights deals, to building enduring global brands and businesses.
We are looking for a Group General Counsel to join the Senior Leadership Team and help shape the next stage of growth.
This isn’t a back-office legal role: it’s a front-and-centre, sleeves-rolled-up position where you’ll partner directly with our commercial leaders and clients. Reporting to the Group Managing Director, you will be the person who makes sense of complexity, spots opportunities others miss, and builds smarter, tech-enabled ways of working across the business.
You will:
* Lead a high-performing Legal & Business Affairs team, setting vision and driving growth.
* Advise on strategic client management opportunities across publishing, media, and beyond.
* Guide complex rights management and high-value dealmaking, with a sharp eye on long-term commercial success.
* Embrace technology and AI to cut through routine work, improve productivity and unlock more time for high-value thinking.
* Partner with senior leadership on growth strategies, M&A and development.
Who you are:
* A qualified lawyer (England & Wales) with strong commercial/IP and media expertise (8+ years PQE).
* Experienced in-house in publishing, media, or entertainment (this is a must) – but still hungry for more.
* Someone who thrives in fast-moving, entrepreneurial environments.
* A hands-on leader who builds trust, inspires teams, and leans into change.
* Passionate about harnessing innovation and technology to get things done smarter, faster, better.
