The Street Scene Operations Manager is responsible for the daily leadership of the Councils in-house Street Cleansing and Grounds Maintenance service across the North Buckinghamshire Area. The role provides direct and indirect leadership to circa 52 employees which includes frontline, supervisory and support functions in a safety critical and compliance driven environment. The role identifies and implements service wide operational improvements and developments, ensuring that the operational activities are delivered safely and to a high standard. The role requires the ability to work effectively within the political arena with multiple stakeholders ranging from front line staff to councillors. The role will support strategic initiatives as defined by Services and Portfolio Priorities and provide solutions to emerging new legislation. About The Role As the Street Scene Operations Manager, you will lead a multi-disciplinary team to deliver both statutory and non-statutory services across a 350 square mile area. You will be responsible for: Providing visible, proactive, and engaging senior leadership. Ensuring compliance with industry-specific legislation, regulations, and policies. Developing and implementing health and safety strategies. Maintaining high standards of service delivery and managing reactive operations. Leading and motivating a team of 47 frontline staff and directly managing 3 Street Scene Supervisors and 2 Operations Administration Officers. Managing complex projects and ensuring delivery on time and within budget. Fixed As a ‘fixed’ worker, you’ll spend most of your time in the same location, which will likely be a fixed office or location where your role is performed. Typically, you’ll be based in the same location as the rest of your team, because you provide a particular service from that fixed location or need access to information there. About You We are looking for someone with relevant experience in senior leadership within operational Street Cleansing and Grounds Maintenance. You should have: Expert knowledge of industry-specific legislation and technical working practices. Experience in managing fleet operations and compliance with an active Operators License. Strong leadership skills and the ability to motivate and develop a large team. Excellent planning and organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise and coordinate workloads.
