An established engineering and automation business is seeking a skilled Mechanical Fitter to support the assembly, fitting, and installation of mechanical systems and automated equipment. This role is ideal for someone with a strong mechanical background who takes pride in precision, quality, and teamwork.
You will work from detailed engineering drawings and specifications, contributing to high-quality machinery builds within a structured and safety-focused environment.
Key Responsibilities:
* Assemble and fit mechanical components, systems, and sub-assemblies in line with engineering drawings
* Carry out alignment, fitting, and adjustment of mechanical assemblies
* Collaborate with engineers and machinists to resolve fitting or design issues
* Inspect components and completed assemblies to ensure dimensional accuracy and quality standards
* Safely use hand tools, power tools, and lifting equipment
* Support installation, commissioning, and maintenance activities on-site when required
* Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working area
Experience Required:
* Proven experience as a Mechanical Fitter or Assembly Technician within precision engineering or automated manufacturing
* Strong understanding of mechanical principles, tolerances, and assembly methods
* Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics
* High attention to detail with a commitment to quality workmanship
* Good problem-solving skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team
Desirable (but not essential):
* NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering
* Experience with pneumatic, hydraulic, or automated systems
