Job Description

Are you ready to launch your career and make an impact on real-world projects from day one?

Graduate Programme Overview

At Leonardo, we are looking for graduates who want to be part of something bigger—shaping innovation, advancing technology, and enhancing global safety.

We are committed to developing our graduates into leading technical or business professionals and will support you through your preferred route for professional development.

Our 18 month Graduate Programme gives you the opportunity to work on exciting and challenging projects alongside subject matter experts.

On joining, you will receive a starting salary of £34,000 per annum, plus a £1,000 welcome bonus. You will also be eligible for a £1,000 exit bonus upon successful completion of the programme. In addition, you may be eligible for a Temporary Accommodation Allowance (TAA), subject to specific criteria.

We encourage you to spend at least three days each week on site to integrate with your team and maximise your learning experience.

Role: Graduate Test Systems Engineer

You will be encouraged to gain experience of all aspects of the development lifecycle, including requirements analysis, design, implementation, integration, applied research and test.

You will have the opportunity to become involved in Test System disciplines such as RF, Microwave, Antenna, FPGA and high‑speed digital engineering.

Throughout the development process, an understanding of the product domain becomes a key element of the learning process, requiring close liaison with engineers from other disciplines, such as Systems, Software and Mechanical.

Opportunities may also arise to interface with customers and end users.

Key Responsibility Areas

* Learn the skills required for hardware development, including advanced design techniques for aerospace applications, and develop experience using ECAD tools and test equipment.
* Explore aspects of the development lifecycle during the graduate development framework: requirements analysis and definition, hardware design, hardware implementation, hardware integration, hardware test and after‑sales support.
* Receive most training via on‑the‑job experience, working on real production hardware within project groups delivering test systems to customers.
* Receive additional formal technical training to augment on‑the‑job training through taught courses, depending on business needs and career direction.

Qualifications

All of our roles require (a) a minimum of a 2:2 Bachelors/Integrated Master’s degree, or (b) a higher degree, such as a MSc or PhD.

For the Graduate Test Systems Engineer role, the acceptable degrees are:

* Electronics & Electrical Engineering
* Electronics Engineering
* Systems Engineering
* Aeronautical Engineering
* Electronic & Software Engineering
* Electrical Power Engineering
* Physics

Security Clearance

This role is subject to pre‑employment screening in line with the UK Government's Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS). Additional Personnel Security Controls, including National Security Vetting (NSV), may apply, potentially requiring The Security Check (SC) or Developed Vetting (DV).

Benefits

At Leonardo, our people are at the heart of everything we do. We offer a comprehensive, company‑funded benefits package that supports wellbeing, career development, and work‑life balance.

* Generous leave, including the opportunity to accrue up to 12 additional flexi‑days each year.
* Benefit from our award‑winning pension scheme with up to 15% employer contribution.
* Free access to mental health support, financial advice, and employee‑led networks championing inclusion and diversity.
* All employees are eligible for our bonus scheme.
* Our Employee Stock Ownership Plan provides an opportunity to own shares in Leonardo.
* Spend up to £500 annually on flexible benefits including private healthcare, dental, family cover, tech & lifestyle discounts, gym memberships and more.
